The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), with the support of the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Government of India, inaugurated the CII Chemicals and Petrochemicals Expo 2025 (CPX 2025) at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar. The three-day event, being held from November 12–14, showcases India’s growing strength and opportunities in the global chemicals and petrochemicals value chain.

India’s Transition to High-Value Chemical Value Chains
Welcoming delegates and industry leaders, Rupark Saraswat, Chairman of CPX 2025 and CEO of India Glycols Ltd., emphasised India’s potential to evolve beyond being a volume-driven exporter.
“India has the opportunity to move beyond being a volume-driven exporter to becoming a partner in high-value, technology-intensive chemical value chains,” he said, aligning his vision with trade realignment, technological transformation, and regulatory evolution.

A Four-Point Agenda for Global Competitiveness
R. Mukundan, President Designate, CII, Chairman, CII National Committee on Chemicals and Petrochemicals, and Managing Director of Tata Chemicals Ltd., shared a four-point roadmap for the sector’s growth.
“Enhanced competitiveness driven by rising demand, talent and skills for a future-ready workforce, AI-led Industry 4.0 solutions, and a strong focus on quality, safety, and sustainability beyond compliance are crucial for India’s leadership in this space,” Mukundan noted.

Expanding Market Horizons and Strengthening Trade
Jayanti Patel highlighted the importance of reducing dependence on limited markets and increasing India’s participation in regional and bilateral trade frameworks.
“Diversifying trade partnerships and tapping into emerging regional opportunities will ensure India’s chemical industry remains resilient and globally competitive,” he added.
Gujarat – The Chemical and Petrochemical Gateway of India
In his address, Premraj Keshyep, Chairman, CII Gujarat State Council and Founder & Managing Director, Conmat Heavy Industries Pvt. Ltd., underlined Gujarat’s pivotal role in India’s chemical growth story.
“Gujarat’s industrial ecosystem is vibrant, dynamic, and scaled for global impact. It truly stands as the Chemical and Petrochemical Gateway of India,” he remarked, urging delegates to explore the Expo and witness strategies being translated into action.
