India’s most desirable luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India, today inaugurated its first Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics (ADAM) Institute in the state of Gujarat at LJ University (LJU), Ahmedabad. The new institute strengthens Mercedes-Benz India’s nationwide skill development footprint and will cater not only to Gujarat but also to neighbouring regions such as Rajasthan.
The Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics (ADAM) programme is currently delivered through a network of seven institutes across India, comprising four government institutes and three private institutes. The integrated one-year course combines Certified Mechatronics Technician (CMT) training in the first six months with Qualified Service Technician (QST) certification in the subsequent six months.
A dedicated one-month Basic Electric Vehicle (EV) module forms an integral part of the curriculum, providing students with in-depth understanding of EV working principles and hands-on exposure to electric vehicles. Introduced two years ago, the EV module has already benefited over 300 students across ADAM Institutes. The programme is designed with flexible entry and exit points, enabling students to complete their training at a pace aligned to individual needs while maintaining rigorous academic and practical standards.
Assured Employability and Industry Integration:
The ADAM programme continues to demonstrate strong employment outcomes, achieving 100% placement for graduating students. Every year, over 85% of ADAM graduates are placed within Mercedes-Benz India’s authorised dealer network, reinforcing the programme’s relevance and direct linkage to industry requirements. To date, more than 1,200 students have successfully graduated from ADAM Institutes nationwide.
Inclusive Skill Development Ecosystem:
In line with Mercedes-Benz India’s focus on inclusive growth, the ADAM programme actively encourages gender diversity, with 21 female students currently enrolled across ongoing batches.
Extended CSR Skill Initiatives:
Beyond ADAM, Mercedes-Benz India also undertakes complementary skill development initiatives under its CSR portfolio, including the Advanced Auto Body Repair (AABR) Training Centre established in collaboration with Don Bosco Institute, Pune. The AABR programme exposes students to advanced body repair techniques and modern repair processes, equipping them with practical skills aligned to global repair standards.
Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz India also associated with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to skill 1000 youth and women at world-class Skill Development Centres established under this initiative in Pune, Maharashtra and Delhi-NCR to empower talented youth and women, providing them with industry-relevant automotive skills aligned with global standards. Mercedes-Benz India’s skill development initiatives reflect the company’s broader commitment to strengthening India’s automotive talent ecosystem through structured training, future-oriented curricula and sustainable employment pathways.
