Blue Star Limited has rolled out an extensive new range of room air conditioners for Summer 2026, underscoring its ambition to capture the next wave of growth in India’s rapidly expanding cooling market.
Senior leadership, including Girish Hingorani, Vice President – Marketing (Unitary Cooling Products Group) & Corporate Communications, and Mohit Sud, Executive Director – Unitary Cooling Products, were in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, where they interacted with the media and outlined the company’s growth strategy.

The newly launched portfolio comprises 125 models, including a premium flagship range, all compliant with the latest Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) norms effective January 1, 2026. Designed to cater to varied consumer needs, the lineup reflects Blue Star’s focus on performance, energy efficiency, and technological innovation.

Market Poised for Strong Growth
India’s room AC market is witnessing sustained structural expansion, driven by rising disposable incomes, rapid urbanisation, and increasing climate intensity. The industry is projected to grow from approximately 14 million units to 30 million units by FY30, with smaller towns emerging as key demand drivers.

Speaking on this trend, Mohit Sud said, “India’s cooling demand is entering a high-growth phase, with strong momentum coming not just from metro cities but increasingly from Tier 3, 4 and 5 markets. Our expanded portfolio is designed to address this wide spectrum of demand—from first-time buyers to premium consumers—while delivering superior performance and energy efficiency.”
Feature-Rich and Segment-Focused Portfolio
The range includes inverter, fixed-speed, and window ACs across price points, with the premium ‘Iconia’ series standing out for its elegant Midnight Silver finish.

Blue Star has introduced multiple specialised categories, including super energy-efficient ACs, heavy-duty models capable of cooling in temperatures up to 56°C, hot & cold ACs for year-round comfort, and air conditioners equipped with anti-virus technology for improved indoor air quality.
Highlighting the product innovation, Girish Hingorani noted, “Consumers today are looking beyond just cooling—they want smart, efficient and health-focused solutions. Our new range integrates advanced technologies such as AI-driven cooling, multi-layer filtration, and smart connectivity, ensuring a superior and holistic user experience.”
Nearly 50 models in the lineup are Smart WiFi-enabled, offering features like voice commands, adaptive cooling, and energy monitoring.
Strengthening Manufacturing and Innovation
To support rising demand, Blue Star has scaled up its manufacturing capacity to 1.4 million units, with the ability to expand to 1.8 million units. Its facilities in Andhra Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh are equipped with automation, IoT integration, and digital systems to enhance efficiency and quality.
The company is also investing in R&D, focusing on eco-friendly refrigerants and energy-efficient systems aligned with evolving environmental norms.
Expanding Reach and Services
Blue Star’s distribution network spans over 900 towns and more than 10,000 retail outlets, supported by a service network of over 2,100 partners.
Beyond ACs: Growing Refrigeration Business
In addition to room air conditioners, the company continues to strengthen its commercial refrigeration portfolio, catering to sectors such as food retail, healthcare, hospitality, and pharmaceuticals.
Looking Ahead
With nearly 150 million households in India expected to be able to afford air conditioners in the coming years, Blue Star is positioning itself to capitalise on this massive opportunity through innovation, expanded capacity, and deeper market penetration.
