3. Applied Materials announces $5 billion India investment
US semiconductor equipment maker Applied Materials announced plans to invest $5 billion in India over the next decade, covering research, supply-chain expansion and workforce development.

4. Hero Motors IPO subscribed 3.37 times
Hero Motors’ IPO was subscribed 3.37 times by Day 2, with the retail portion receiving more than five times subscription, according to market updates.

5. Tata stocks gain after board decisions
Tata Motors, Tata Steel and Tata Investment Corporation were among the Tata-group stocks that advanced during Thursday’s session following the Tata Sons developments.

6. Indian markets end mixed

10. Oil India seeks to repatriate $300 million Russian dividend

1. US Federal Reserve raises interest rates
The US Federal Reserve raised its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%–4%, its first rate increase in more than three years, while signalling the possibility of further tightening.

2. Wall Street rebounds as oil prices ease
US stocks recovered on Thursday as falling oil prices and easing bond-market pressure improved investor sentiment. The S&P 500 rose 0.9%, the Dow 0.4% and Nasdaq 1.4%.

3. China and Hong Kong stocks decline
Chinese and Hong Kong markets fell after the Fed’s rate decision and signals of further hikes. Property, gold and non-ferrous metal stocks came under pressure.

4. Bank of England keeps rates unchanged
The Bank of England left interest rates unchanged but indicated that persistent inflationary pressure from energy costs could require tighter monetary policy later.

5. Wall Street banks see trading boom cooling
Major US banks including Bank of America, JPMorgan, Citigroup and Morgan Stanley are reporting signs that the rapid growth in trading revenues seen earlier this year is slowing in the third quarter.
