GREENS 2026, India’s premier dedicated platform for recycling, circular economy and waste-to-resource transformation, was virtually inaugurated on Thursday by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi at the Helipad Exhibition Centre in Gandhinagar.
The three-day Global Recycling Expo and Summit, being held from June 4 to 6, has brought together policymakers, industry leaders, innovators and sustainability experts to deliberate on the future of recycling and resource efficiency in India. The event is jointly organised by SALT Alliances and the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), with iNDEXTb as the industry partner, Deloitte India as the knowledge partner, and support from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB).

The inaugural session was attended by Shekhar Patel, National President of CREDAI and MD & CEO of Ganesh Housing, who graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.
Experts highlighted the growing importance of sustainable waste management in India’s development journey. “India generates at least 150 million metric tonnes of waste every year, and as we proceed to become a net-zero economy, platforms such as GREENS 2026 are important for deliberation by experts and industry stakeholders. Recycling and waste management are not just environmental concerns but are directly linked with our country’s development and progress,” he said.
Recognised as an official Side Event of the World Circular Economy Forum 2026, GREENS 2026 has attracted more than 100 industry leaders, over 70 speakers and exhibitors representing 14 sectors across the recycling and circular economy ecosystem.

The summit is hosting discussions on a wide range of critical themes, including solid waste management, plastic and metal recycling, e-waste and battery recycling, rubber and end-of-life tyre recycling, construction and demolition waste management, solar waste management, wastewater treatment and zero liquid discharge (ZLD), artificial intelligence in recycling, carbon markets, waste-to-energy solutions, end-of-life vehicles (ELV), and sustainable startups.
Speaking on the occasion, Ketan Prajapati, Director of SALT Alliances, said India’s growth story can no longer be based on a linear model of consumption and disposal. “The circular economy is no longer a niche conversation; it is central to the future of manufacturing and economic growth. Through GREENS 2026, we aim to create a collaborative platform that brings together industry, policymakers and innovators to drive meaningful dialogue on recycling and circular economy solutions,” he said.

Sandeep Engineer, President of GCCI and Chairman and Managing Director of Astral Limited, emphasised the need to align industrial growth with sustainability and innovation. He said GREENS 2026 provides a vital platform for stakeholders to collectively work towards long-term and sustainable transformation.
Among the prominent speakers participating in the summit are Sandeep Patel, Chairman of NEPRA; Sanjay Mehta, President of MRAI; Sumit Issar, MD and CEO of Mahindra Accelo; Chetan Joshi of the Tyre and Rubber Recyclers Association of India; Mani Vajipey, Co-founder and CEO of Banyan Nation; Anupam Jalote of GMDC; and noted investor and sustainability advocate Nagaraja Prakasam.
In line with its sustainability mission, GREENS 2026 has been designed as a carbon-neutral and zero-waste-to-landfill event. A dedicated Waste-to-Art installation zone featuring large-scale sculptures created from recovered industrial waste serves as a powerful reminder that waste can be transformed into a valuable resource through innovation and design.
Organisers envision GREENS as India’s permanent annual platform dedicated to advancing recycling, resource efficiency and circular economy transformation, supporting the country’s broader sustainability and net-zero ambitions.
