NPCI Bharat BillPay Limited (NBBL) has announced that its B2B platform, Bharat Connect for Business, is emerging as a foundational digital layer for India’s MSME-driven markets, particularly Gujarat. Launched in 2024, the platform is enabling seamless and interoperable B2B connectivity across the state’s 43 lakh MSMEs and has already processed over two million invoice-based transactions in Q3 FY26.

Empowering Gujarat’s Industrial Ecosystem

According to the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI 2023–24), Gujarat remains one of India’s leading manufacturing hubs, underlining the importance of robust digital infrastructure for business operations. The state’s diverse industrial clusters — from Ahmedabad’s diversified manufacturing base to Rajkot’s engineering and auto ancillary units, Vadodara’s chemicals and pharmaceuticals sector, and Surat’s textile and job-work networks — represent complex and interdependent supply chains. These clusters rely heavily on timely, accurate, and standardised information exchange, making interoperable digital workflows essential for efficiency and growth.

Bharat Connect for Business addresses long-standing challenges within fragmented multi-ERP B2B ecosystems by offering MSMEs a unified digital layer that enhances structure, transparency, and operational efficiency. The platform streamlines documentation, reconciliation, and information flow, enabling quicker turnaround times, improved cash flow control, and more reliable day-to-day business processes.

Key Benefits for MSMEs

The platform provides a single point of integration, allowing real-time data exchange across systems without requiring businesses to replace their existing ERPs. This reduces integration costs while offering a consolidated data view. Automated invoice delivery and acknowledgement minimise manual intervention and errors, while timestamped acceptance and real-time visibility into invoices and credit/debit notes enhance transparency.

Bharat Connect for Business also strengthens financing enablement by accelerating invoice acceptance and providing verified invoice data, thereby improving MSMEs’ access to financing partners. Digital collections and payment workflows reduce operational burdens and enhance collection efficiency. Additionally, automated settlement and reconciliation across invoices, returns, and adjustments improve GST accuracy through alignment with GSTR-2B records and facilitate smoother returns management with fewer disputes.

Leadership Perspective on Digital Transformation

Highlighting the platform’s transformative potential, Ms. Noopur Chaturvedi, MD & CEO, NBBL, emphasised the significant opportunity for Gujarat’s MSME sector to benefit from a strong B2B digital infrastructure.

She stated, “Gujarat’s large and dynamic MSME sector can benefit greatly from a robust B2B digital infrastructure like Bharat Connect for Business. Its interoperable digital ecosystem delivers tangible, far-reaching benefits enabling businesses to reduce operational friction, improve liquidity management, and gain clearer visibility across their processes. Banks and fintechs, in turn, benefit from access to standardised data that supports more accurate and efficient credit assessments. It also helps promote smoother dispute resolution by reducing ambiguities across invoices and payments.”

Further elaborating on the platform’s capabilities, she added, “With Bharat Connect for Business, MSMEs can integrate their existing ERP and business systems, making payments, collections, and reconciliation faster and more streamlined, ultimately supporting more resilient and scalable operations.”

Strong Growth and Expanding Ecosystem

India’s MSME sector forms one of the country’s strongest economic pillars, with more than 7.7 crore enterprises operating across industries and supply chains. The scale of activity is reflected in the over 150 crore GST e-invoices generated annually, demonstrating the need for accurate, interoperable, and digitised data flows.

In Q3 FY26, Bharat Connect for Business crossed two million invoice-based transactions and recorded an average month-on-month growth of 50% in invoice generation over the past six months. The platform is already integrated with leading ERP and business solution providers including Tally Prime, Zoho ERP, mSwipe, Easebuzz, and Open, enabling enterprises to seamlessly connect their existing systems.

As the ecosystem continues to expand, NBBL is building on the principles of Digital Public Infrastructure and Digital Public Goods through an open-architecture model that promotes secure, standardised, and widely accessible data exchange.
