1. Sensex, Nifty close lower as oil prices and foreign outflows weigh

9. CBDT extends corporate tax filing deadline by 21 days
The Central Board of Direct Taxes has extended the deadline for corporate income-tax returns and audit reports for Assessment Year 2026-27 by 21 days from September 30.

10. Jio and Airtel add millions of mobile subscribers
TRAI data showed Jio added 2.4 million mobile users and Airtel 2.1 million in August. India’s overall wireless and fixed-wireless subscriber base reached 1,312.25 million.

International Business News Highlights

1. Anthropic targets massive valuation in planned IPO
AI company Anthropic’s IPO plans have renewed enthusiasm for technology stocks. Its prospectus points to a potential valuation above $2 trillion and highlights enormous planned spending on computing and infrastructure.

2. US stocks remain under pressure from high bond yields
US equities were broadly subdued as the 10-year Treasury yield climbed to around 5.08%, near its highest level since 2007. Higher yields are increasing pressure on stock valuations and borrowing costs.

3. European markets rise on technology stocks
The pan-European STOXX 600 gained 0.7% on Tuesday, led by technology shares, as renewed optimism surrounding artificial intelligence helped offset concerns over high oil prices and bond yields.

4. China expects trade and cross-border investment to keep growing
China’s foreign-exchange regulator said it expects trade in goods and services and cross-border investment to remain active despite external challenges. Beijing also plans measures to facilitate trade and widen foreign access to domestic financial markets.

5. China-US agree to pursue tariff cuts on $60 billion of goods
Washington and Beijing said they would pursue tariff reductions covering $60 billion of goods imported by each country, including agricultural products, toys and household goods, as part of efforts to ease trade tensions.
