Gopal Snacks Limited, one of India’s leading traditional packaged snack manufacturers, has commenced production of namkeen at its Modasa manufacturing facility in North Gujarat. The plant, which previously produced only potato wafers and fries, has now expanded operations to include namkeen, significantly enhancing the company’s overall production capacity across its Modasa, Rajkot, and Nagpur facilities.
The expansion is aligned with Gopal Snacks’ national growth strategy, aimed at strengthening its presence, improving supply chain efficiency, and increasing synergy between its manufacturing units. With namkeen production now operational at Modasa, the company expects to better meet the rising demand in northern and western markets, while ensuring faster service and timely deliveries to its distributor network.
Raj Hadwani, Whole-time Director and CEO of Gopal Snacks, stated, “The expansion of the Modasa plant and the start of namkeen production marks an important step in enhancing our supply chain efficiency and meeting the growing national demand for our products. By manufacturing most of our namkeen at Rajkot and Modasa, we are now better positioned to serve our distributors quickly, strengthen our reach into new markets, and continue delivering high-quality, reliable products to our customers.”
Situated in the agriculturally rich Modasa region, the facility benefits from easy access to essential raw materials such as potatoes, groundnuts, and black gram, sourced directly from local farmers. To support uninterrupted production, the company has also established a 40,000-metric-tonne cold storage facility at the site.
With this expansion, the total production capacity at the Modasa unit has increased to about 200 MT per day. The plant is undergoing continuous infrastructure upgrades, automation initiatives, and process improvements, driven by the company’s in-house engineering team to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality.
The strengthened Modasa facility is expected to accelerate Gopal Snacks’ market reach, ensuring steady product availability and faster distribution across key regions in North and West India, particularly Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh.
