Global industrial solutions leader Ingersoll Rand (India) Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand Inc. (NYSE: IR), has announced the inauguration of its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat, marking a major milestone in its 100-year journey in India.
Vicente Reynal, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ingersoll Rand Inc., said, “It’s a flywheel — once you start, you see the positive impact you can create. Always try to achieve more and help others in return. Our expansion in India reflects this very spirit — driving innovation, empowering local talent, and creating sustainable growth that benefits our customers, communities, and the planet alike.”
With an investment of ₹170 crore, the facility underscores Ingersoll Rand’s deepening commitment to India’s manufacturing ecosystem, sustainability goals, and local employment generation.
The site is projected to boost production capacity by 1.5 times by 2028, with scalability to double capacity by 2030, positioning India as a critical hub in the company’s global supply chain.

Strategic Investment in Growth and Innovation
The Sanand facility represents one of Ingersoll Rand’s most significant investments in India to date. Spread over 65,856 square meters, with 24,527 square meters of built-up area, the plant will manufacture centrifugal compressors, refrigeration dryers, gas compressors, reciprocating compressors, and nitrogen generators for industries including pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, defense, textiles, automotive, and power.
In its initial phase, the facility will have an annual capacity of 24,000 units, complementing the company’s existing plant that operates at 60,000 units per annum. Commercial production is set to begin by the fourth quarter of FY 2025.
“This investment reinforces our century-long commitment to India and highlights our focus on sustainable manufacturing and local innovation,” said Sunil Khanduja, Managing Director, Ingersoll Rand India. “With Gujarat’s strong infrastructure and government support, we aim to deliver world-class technologies tailored for both local and global markets.”
Global Leadership Perspective
Calling India one of the company’s fastest-growing markets, Gareth Topping, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Compression Systems and Services, EMEIA, stated:
“The Sanand facility provides scale, flexibility, and advanced technology to serve customers better. This investment aligns with our multi-brand, multi-channel strategy and strengthens our global manufacturing precision.”
Sustainability and Advanced Manufacturing
Designed around the principles of sustainability, digitalization, and operational excellence, the Sanand facility is among Ingersoll Rand’s most environmentally responsible sites worldwide.
Key features include 100% green power usage, zero-liquid discharge operations, rainwater harvesting, wastewater recycling, organic composting, and acoustic enclosures. It also integrates IoT-enabled monitoring, AI-driven predictive maintenance, and digital tools like Ecoplant and Helix. The company has set a five-year roadmap to achieve net-zero operations.
In addition to advanced manufacturing, the facility will house R&D and testing labs to drive local innovation, enabling customized solutions for Indian industries.
Empowering Local Talent
Ingersoll Rand’s Sanand facility is expected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities across the value chain — from skilled shop-floor technicians to research and engineering professionals. The company also plans to launch training and skill development initiatives to nurture talent and strengthen the local industrial ecosystem.
Commitment to ‘Make in India’
The new facility aligns with India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives, reinforcing the country’s role as a global manufacturing destination. With this expansion, Ingersoll Rand aims to increase exports while supporting domestic demand through sustainable and technology-driven production.
Ingersoll Rand Inc. is a global leader in mission-critical flow creation and life science solutions, operating through over 80 trusted brands. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, the company is dedicated to “Making Life Better” for customers, employees, and communities across the world.
