Strengthening its presence in one of India’s fastest-growing electric vehicle markets, Oben Electric on Monday unveiled its newly launched performance electric motorcycle, the Rorr Evo, in Ahmedabad. The launch was attended by Gujarat Minister of State for Law & Judiciary, Energy & Petrochemicals, and Legislative & Parliamentary Affairs, Kaushik Vekariya, as the Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer announced plans to expand its retail footprint to 15 showrooms across Gujarat by FY27.

The announcement comes amid strong market response to the Rorr Evo, which has crossed 25,000 bookings within just 15 days of launch. Ahmedabad alone accounted for nearly 30 per cent of the motorcycle’s bookings from Gujarat, underlining the city’s growing role in India’s electric mobility landscape.

Oben Electric said it intends to deepen its presence across major Gujarat cities including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Gandhinagar and Mehsana, while enhancing customer access to sales, service and ownership support.

‘Made-in-India Innovation Will Drive EV Revolution’

Speaking at the launch, Kaushik Vekariya lauded the company’s indigenous manufacturing approach.

“We congratulate Oben Electric on launching its 100 per cent Made-in-India electric motorcycle. This achievement reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting indigenous manufacturing and accelerating India’s transition towards sustainable mobility. We are confident Oben Electric will play a significant role in advancing the electric vehicle revolution in India and contribute to building a cleaner, greener and self-reliant nation,” he said.

Gujarat Emerging as a Strategic EV Growth Market

Highlighting the company’s expansion plans, Madhumita Agrawal, Founder and CEO of Oben Electric, said Gujarat has emerged as one of the most promising markets for electric mobility.

“The strong response to the Oben Rorr Evo in Ahmedabad and across Gujarat reinforces our belief that the state will play a significant role in Oben Electric’s growth journey. As demand for performance electric motorcycles rises, we remain committed to building a robust retail and service ecosystem that delivers a dependable and future-ready ownership experience,” Agrawal said.

The company also revealed that it has received more than 500 dealer enquiries from Gujarat over the past 30 days, reflecting growing interest in the EV sector and the potential for network expansion in the state.

Investor Backs Indigenous Technology Focus

Gaurav VK Singhvi, Managing Partner at Avinya Ventures and an early investor in Oben Electric, praised the company’s commitment to homegrown innovation.

“Oben Electric exemplifies the true spirit of Make in India. While much of the industry depends on imported technology, Oben has invested in developing core EV technologies, manufacturing capabilities and intellectual property in-house. It demonstrates that world-class products can be designed, engineered and manufactured in India for Indian consumers,” Singhvi said.

Performance-Focused Electric Motorcycle

The Oben Rorr Evo is being offered at an introductory price of ₹99,999 (ex-showroom) for the first 10,000 customers, after which it will be priced at ₹1,24,999 (ex-showroom).

Powered by the company’s proprietary 9 kW IPMSM motor, the motorcycle delivers 250 Nm wheel torque, accelerates from 0-40 kmph in 3 seconds, offers a claimed range of 180 km, and reaches a top speed of 110 kmph. The model features a 3.4 kWh LFP battery, fast charging capability, an 8-year battery warranty, AI-powered ride optimisation through SmartIQ technology, and a suite of connected features including navigation, geo-fencing, remote immobilisation and emergency SOS.

National Expansion on the Horizon

Oben Electric currently operates through more than 150 showrooms and service centres across 100-plus cities in over 18 states. The company plans to add another 200 exclusive showrooms nationwide by FY27 as part of its aggressive growth strategy.

With Gujarat emerging as a major contributor to early demand for the Rorr Evo, Oben Electric is positioning the state as a key pillar in its national expansion roadmap and India’s accelerating shift towards electric mobility.
